Sauté? Slay. My Honest Carote Cookware Review

Sauté? Slay. My Honest Carote Cookware Review

Back when my husband and I were renovating our farmhouse during the COVID lockdown, we pretty much collected all the home essentials — paint-stained yoga pants included 😅. So, when it came time to put together e a wedding registry, we hit a bit of a roadblock. We were fortunate enough that we didn’t need much, and we wanted to keep it light and simple. A friend gave us the best advice: “Don’t be afraid to upgrade a few things you use every day.” That totally shifted our mindset, which in turn made our families happy because they'd actually have a few items to pick from!

We started looking for quality items that felt a little more special, whether it be something that prioritized our wellness, or an item that made us feel luxurious, we tried to curate a little wedding registry without going over the top. That’s how this Carote cookware set ended up on our list — practical, beautiful, and totally within budget. And now every time I use it, I smile knowing it’s part of this new chapter Ryan and I are building in our home. Shout out to our dear friends Megan and Dean for the hookup!

The Carote Ceramic 13‑Piece Nonstick Cookware Set offers a sleek look, multiple color options for everyday cooking with induction compatibility. We went with the versatile taupe color! Let's dive into whether it lives up to the hype in aesthetics, performance, and health safety.

🧭 First Impressions

  • Packaging & appearance: The set arrives neatly and includes a variety of pots, pans, and lids, all featuring a smooth ceramic exterior. Our friends splurged and sent us a set of their cooking utensils too which felt really nice and sturdy.

  • Handling & weight: Constructed from die‑cast aluminum, it feels lightweight yet sturdy — easy to lift, yet not flimsy. I have no problems getting them out of the lower cabinets in the kitchen and lifting them up onto the counter. Even when using the big sauce pan and filling it with water or a soup I'm making, it's still pretty lightweight.

🔍 Brand Overview & Materials

When we sat down to look at all the different cookware brands and sets, it was really overwhelming. We decided that it was time to upgrade the pots and pans (we didn't love the set we were using before). We set out to find a set that was budget friendly but used healthier materials than the set we had. We hit the web and started to read up on our options, and Carote frequently made the list of brands that were both budget friendly and good quality pots and pans. No, they aren't the highest rated brand on the market, but for staying under $100, and being more transparent than other brands about what materials they use, we decided to give Carote a try. Here's some of the reading and research we conducted:

🏭 Brand Background

🧪 Coating Details & Safety

  • The ILAG granite finish is a non-stick coating composed of multiple ceramic-infused layers; Carote asserts it's free from PFOA, PFOS, lead, and cadmium mycarote.com+15amazon.com+15reddit.com+15.

  • It is more durable and scratch-resistant than single-layer ceramic .

🍳 Performance

  • Non-stick & cooking: Foods glide off smoothly and cleanup is a breeze — users on Reddit report stains are rare with medium‑low heat. I've been using our set for around 9 months now and I can honestly say that we have not stained a single piece yet (knock on wood!). The griddle pan is a little tricky to clean and takes a little more time than a traditional frying pan as you want to clean each groove, but it's worth the extra couple minutes (I am obsessed with this piece!).

  • Heat distribution: The aluminum core offers consistent, even cooking — praised for quick heating time eatingwell.com+15mycarote.com+15amazon.com+15.

  • Durability: Lightweight but well-built. Still, Reddit users note the coating is delicate and prone to scratching if overheated or scrubbed harshly.

✅ Pros
Non-toxic, PFOA/PFOS-free ceramic coating
Requires less oil, easy cleanup
Lightweight yet sturdy aluminum core
Even heating, induction-compatible
❌ Cons
Not oven-safe above 250 °C/480 °F (and Bakelite handles can't go in oven)
Coating may eventually wear and isn’t ultra-durable
Some users report denting with rough handling
Not dishwasher-safe; hand-washing recommended

💬 Brittny’s Final Verdict:

Highly recommended for home cooks seeking non-toxic, easy-to-clean cookware that looks great and performs well! Provided it’s used with care (medium heat, silicone utensils, hand wash), it's been holding up really really well! While not built for ultra-high-heat or heavy-duty use, it delivers excellent value for healthy everyday cooking. We're so happy we updated from our old set! What really sealed the deal was the price point, and also the option to buy pieces a la carte too (Check out both Walmart and Amazon for a ton of options). They've introduced a line that the handles come off and are interchangeable which look really neat too! They also have a line of knives, and kitchen utensils that are worth checking out.

Happy shopping!
