Brittny Tried It: Megan Moroney Concert Review
🎶Why I Tried It🎶
Anyone that knows me knows that I am obsessed with music and I rarely say no to live music. So when one of the nicest and funniest women I know called me up and invited me to meet up in Savannah, Georgia to see Megan Moroney in concert, I said take my money nowwww and I'll see you there on the spot...even though I truthfully could not name a single Megan Moroney song in that moment. Luckily, Spotify had me covered and I quickly learned as many of her songs as I could, and was even more pumped to go! Cowgirl emo?? Say less and count me in!!!
❤️What I Loved❤️
Savannah showed up big time for Megan. The venue (Enmarket Arena) was buzzing with energy, and the crowd sang (and at times screamed) along to every word like we were all old friends at a backyard bonfire. Megan opened with my favorite, “Man on the Moon,” and from the first line, it was game on. She played all the fan favorites “Hair Salon,” “Girl in the Mirror,” and of course, “Tennessee Orange". She also had a ton of fun things happening before the show including multiple photo op spots, permanent jewelry artist, multiple merch tables, and more!
Between songs, she told stories about songwriting in Nashville, dating drama (relatable much?!), and what it felt like to play a sold-out show in her home state. There were laughs, some tears, and so many glittery cowgirl boots.
Being lucky enough to have seen The Eras Tour live in 2024, I thought that I would be spending my whole life chasing down another experience that made me feel the way I did on that Friday night in Amsterdam. I still struggle to put it into words, but the experience I had at Am I Okay tour was by far the only moment that has ever come close to the Eras Tour experience. The womanhood feeling, everyone dressed perfectly to express and connect with the music, and the way the crowd sung/screamed/had a massive therapy session together was ELECTRIFYING.
🎵What I Didn’t Love🎵
I've been lucky enough to go to concerts in of a few different states and even another country, and have seen a bunch of venues from stadiums/arenas to beautiful old theaters, amphitheaters in the middle of the woods (IYKYK Riverbend Music Center 👀) to hole in the wall clubs that left my ears ringing for daaaaays (My sister and I swear we lost part of our hearing at a NFG show in Jacksonville, FL in the early 2000's). I'd never made it to a concert in Georgia and was excited to scratch off another state from the "States my hubby and I have visited map".
The show was at the Enmarket Arena right in the downtown area. The venue honestly felt like it was plucked in the middle of a neighborhood which at first thought is a neat concept. The only downside? Parking and/or getting to the show by foot. Savannah is charming but not made for a flood of country music fans in rhinestone hats making their way to and from the Enmarket Arena. We stayed at a hotel that was under a mile away and initially thought that we were going to just walk to the show. Luckily, we talked to a few locals that were also going to the concert who advised that the arena isn't in a location that is walkable by sidewalks the entire way. Second thought was we'll just dive....that was an instant nope when the locals continued to loop us in on the parking situation. We landed on using an Uber that went smoothly. Our Uber driver confirmed what the nice locals had told us, that this wasn't a walk that two women really want to doing alone at night post concert.
I hate saying this, but my only other "I didn't love it" was the opener, Mackenzie Carpenter. I don't think it's accurate to say that I didn't like her, because I honestly could not hear her well. I think that if her mic/sound situation would have been clearer for me to understand her and make out what she was singing/saying, I probably would have been more into it. I do plan on giving her a listen on Spotify and checking out her music and giving her a fair shot!
🎼 Would I Recommend It?🎼
One hundred percent YES. Whether you're already a fan or just looking for a girls’ night with good vibes and even better music to make new memories to, Megan Moroney delivers. Her lyrics cut deep, her voice is even stronger live, and she makes you feel like you're part of the story she’s singing. You feel like you are part of this experience that only a select couple thousand people are getting to have in that moment.
Brittny’s Final Thoughts
I definitely am not Indifferent From the sweet Southern charm to the powerhouse vocals, Megan Moroney in Savannah was everything I hoped for and honestly more. I went into it just happy to have a girls night with one of my favorite women, and came out of it a Megan Moroney Fan. She’s definitely one to watch—and one I’ll happily see again. This time, I opted for a comfy athletic dress with a denim crop button down over it and sneakers. Next time, I’m wearing even more sparkles or may go the emo cowgirl route 😉
