ARC Review: Rebirth of Order (Brittny Tried It ⭐️ 3.5/5)

Tackling the TBR:

Rebirth of Order by D.D. Williams

(Spoiler-Free Review)

When I picked up Rebirth of Order, I was instantly intrigued by the premise....dark fantasy with gods, dragons, and plenty of morally gray characters. Sign me up! It sounded like the perfect blend of action, magic, and romance to dive into. It’s the authors debut book, to what is set up to be a long 8 book series and it’s a good start!

If I’m honest, while the novel offers an intriguing premise, the writing style didn’t quite resonate with me. At times, I found it a bit challenging to follow, or maybe it was distracting, but either way it affected my overall engagement with the story a little bit. I do respect the author’s style choice and the way she wove her story together. I know plenty of other readers that prefer various styles, so I trust there won't be a shortage of readers that are obsessed! After all, there was plenty to enjoy and multiple times I found myself not ready to put the book down for the evening.

There were also a great smorgasbord of characters I enjoyed that reeled me in too. I couldn’t figure out for a bit if I liked the protagonist and if she’d ever come around to being one that I enjoyed and could root for, but eventually I stopped rolling my eyes at her and found that I didn’t mind her nearly as much as I did at the start of the book.

One line that stood out to me and really captured the darker tone of the book was:

One standout feature was the inclusion of a Spotify playlist at the beginning of the book created for the reader to experience the mood/vibes the author intended you to pick up on. This thoughtful touch enhanced the reading experience and added a unique layer to the narrative. I love music and always think of music vibes when I’m imagining the make believe places books take me to, and having the curated playlist was super cool. I hope the author does this for each future book in the series (it’s projected to be a 8 book series fyi!).

All in all, it’s a good read that most will enjoy. I know my review is a little mixed (my thoughts usually are all over the place 😆), but I’d end it by saying I would give the second book a shot when it came out and not decide to DNF the series just from reading book 1.

 ⭐️ My Rating: 3.5/5 ⭐️

Happy reading!
