Concoring The TBR: Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry

She’s Got Questions, We’ve Got Feels: Shield of Sparrows (Spoiler Free) Review   I actually picked up Shield of Sparrows on a whim one weekend when I was looking for something cozy but with a little emotional punch. I wasn’t exactly sure what I was getting into, but Devney Perry’s reputation for small town charm and heartfelt characters definitely caught my eye. I ended up reading it in little bursts sipping tea on the porch, sneaking chapters during lunch breaks, while the husband was watching football (I just hope both teams have fun!)  and staying up way too late because I just had to see what would happen next. By the end, I felt like I’d spent time with old friends...laughed with them....stressed over their choices, and rooted for them in ways that made putting the book down nearly impossible.  Sometimes a book sneaks up on you like a whisper in a quiet room, and Shield of Sparrows is exactly that kind of read. From the first page, Devney Perry hooks you with her ...

Tackling The TBR: Crimson Moth Duology

Moonlight, Masks & Magic: A Spoiler Free Review of The Crimson Moth Duology Ever feel like you're in a slump and you don't see it until you do something that pulls you out of it? I have felt that way a lot of this summer. Fall's here, and I can't even bring myself to decorate for it (which is one of my absolute favorite times of the year!). I've felt a little off this year, and maybe it has something to do with all the traveling I've been doing (not complaining, just saying it's hard to feel in a routine when you aren't in one!). Last week, I zipped out to the west coast for a quick work trip, and since I never can sleep on planes, I suddenly found myself with some extra time on my hands so naturally I decided to spend the time reading. Some stories feel like stepping into a spell. Where shadows are velvet, danger is sweet, and love is as risky as rebellion. Kristen Ciccarelli’s The Crimson Moth duology is exactly that kind of magic. With witches ...

ARC Review: The Last of the Fire Witches by Chelsea Biddiscombe

Tackling the TBR:  I received an advance review copy for free of  The Last of the Fire Witches by Chelsea Biddiscombe! Sharing with you my spoiler free review (spoiler free is so hard when there are so many things you enjoyed in a book and want to call out!) From the very first pages, the premise of the story is compelling. Aurie is the last of her kind, forced to hide her identity in a world that would like to see her destroyed. I like the use of legacy and survival and right from the jump, it's there for the reader to experience and learn about. The world building is pretty solidly done by Biddiscombe. I liked the covens, kingdoms and the explanation and exploration of magic throughout the series. The characters themselves were compelling and easy to identify who I was going to love, who I was going to hate and who I was going to feel just "meh" about. I will say, I do wish there was a little more character description provided, but luckily my imagination is able to r...

ARC Review: Rebirth of Order (Brittny Tried It ⭐️ 3.5/5)

Tackling the TBR:   Rebirth of Order by D.D. Williams (Spoiler-Free Review) When I picked up Rebirth of Order , I was instantly intrigued by the premise....dark fantasy with gods, dragons, and plenty of morally gray characters. Sign me up! It sounded like the perfect blend of action, magic, and romance to dive into. It’s the authors debut book, to what is set up to be a long 8 book series and it’s a good start!  If I’m honest, while the novel offers an intriguing premise, the writing style didn’t quite resonate with me. At times, I found it a bit challenging to follow, or maybe it was distracting, but either way it affected my overall engagement with the story a little bit. I do respect the author’s style choice and the way she wove her story together. I know plenty of other readers that prefer various styles, so I trust there won't be a shortage of readers that are obsessed! After all, there was plenty to enjoy and multiple times I found myself not ready to put the b...

From Blind Bags to Wall Art: My LEGO Disney 100 Display

From Blind Bags to Wall Art DIYing My LEGO Disney 100 Display When LEGO released their Disney 100 Minifigure Series, I knew right away this was going to be a “must complete” collection. The mix of classic characters and newer favorites was irresistible! From Oswald the Lucky Rabbit to Stitch in his red spacesuit to Baymax, and everything in between, I loved how these looked. We made it our mission to track down every single one, and after some patient hunting (and a little bit of luck with blind bags), we finally completed the set!   The Fun of Collecting Hunting down each character was half the fun and sometimes a challenge! There were a few doubles along the way (I’m looking at you, Pinocchio), but that just made gifting to friends and loved ones even more exciting.  Once we collected them, I was faced with the "well now what do I do with these?". I don't have a ton of counter/shelf space that I really want to cover with Legos. I took to the internet and social media...
