Shopping For the Music Loving Dad: Father's Day Edition
πΆ Brittny Tried It: Father’s Day Gifts for the Music Loving DadπΆ
What to Buy (or DIY) for Your Favorite Jam Master
Let’s be honest...shopping for dads is hard...or at least shopping for my pops is tough! That's why when I find something that works, I tend to repeat it for future years if I can. My dad is rarely sitting idle for long, but can always be found listening to music. Whether he's mowing, tinkering in the barn, playing cards, or cooking, my dad ALWAYS has music going. So, if the father figure in your life loves music, I’ve got you covered. Whether he’s into old-school rock, jazz playlists, or just needs better sound for his backyard BBQs, I rounded up gift ideas that’ll make his Father’s Day pitch-perfect. π§
From high-tech audio gifts to meaningful (and totally free!) gestures, these are the gifts that hit all the right notes.
π 1. Amazon Echo
Price: $49–199
Why It Hits: Smart speaker, amazing sound quality, and voice-controlled music? Yes, please. The Echo Studio is chef’s kiss if he’s serious about sound. Bonus: It can double as a home assistant for weather, timers, and even dad jokes. π
The reason I like the Amazon Echo for dads is because it works for older and newer dads and offers more than just a way to listen to your favorite classic rock band. I have multiple versions and kinds of Amazon Echos (Dot, Pop, and Show) throughout the house, and what I like most is that they provide me a low cost, noninvasive/renter friendly way of having surround sound throughout the house. I follow in my Pop's footsteps in the sense that I love having music playing throughout the house.
I also love that every week, my husband is reminded to take the trash out the night before it gets picked up (Thanks Alexa for taking over the nagging for me!!). The Show has an integrated camera allowing you to drop in and see whats going on at home, or call loved ones. Through the Alexa, I can link up all of my smart home gadgets (think doorbells, thermostat, smart plugs, etc) and even make routines for these items. It's not only great for having a light come on every morning or to raise the temperature at bed time, but I even can set up the Christmas Tree and decorations to turn on and off at certain times.
All jokes aside, it's not only a gift for Dad, it's a gift for you because it automates tasks and creates routines for the household. I've been thinking of upgrading to the Show 15 when I finish my kitchen renovation and if I do, you know I'll share my thoughts with you all!

π§ 2. Apple AirPods (Pro 2)
Price: $199-$249
Why It Hits: AirPods are perfect for dads on the go that already have Apple in their lives. Whether he’s walking the dog, mowing the lawn, or avoiding your mom’s true crime podcasts..these make a great gift. Great sound, easy to pair, and no wires to tangle? Major win for every dad between tech savvy and simple.
I've had my AirPods for about 2 years now, and truth be told, I'd give them 3-4 stars, not all 5 stars. The noise canceling is elite in my opinion...now granted I can only compare it to Skull Candy, JBL, and Beats...they make flying dare I say enjoyable? (Nah!)....so why not all 5 stars you ask? Well, simply put, I have babied mine (even have a sleeve over the holder) and recently I've run into a problem. For these never being dropped or mishandled, I would have thought I would have gone longer than 2 years before I ran into my first issue with them. The right ear bud gives off a high pitched sequel when I open my mouth (or move the muscles in my face too much). I've cleaned them, had them professionally cleaned, and have factory reset and paired them all over and I can't get it to go back to the quality I had them at before. I know people that have had theirs and loooooove them, and have ran into no issues, but I wouldn't be honest if I didn't share my experience. I have a pair of JBL that I've reverted back to using for the time being, and I still use them when 1 ear bud will do.

πΌ 3. Pandora Premium Subscription
Price: $9.99/month (first 30 days free!)
Why It Hits: Give him the gift of ad-free music. He can build playlists, discover new artists, and relive his favorite decades. It’s perfect for dads who like to chill and discover new jams. Every single year I get my dad a year subscription to Pandora. I know I've hit the mark because every year I ask my dad what he'd like for Father's Day and he is very subtle about letting me know that his subscription is about to be up and tells me how much use he got out of the previous year's subscription.
π Tip: You can also gift Spotify or Apple Music subscriptions if those are more his style! My dad LOVES Pandora because he gets to hear a variety of artists and that's more his listening speed. My go to is Spotify because I have to have the most perfectly curated playlist for whatever vibe I am going for!

π 4. FREE Gift Idea: Curated Playlist from You
Price: $0
Why It Hits: Create a playlist on Spotify, YouTube, or Pandora of songs that remind you of him. Think songs from your childhood, his favorites, or tracks that make you laugh together. Add a cute note explaining why you chose each song and include some of your favorite photos of him. He’ll love it (and probably cry)!
πΌ 5. FREE Gift Idea: Host a Living Room Concert or Karaoke Night
Price: $0
Why It Hits: Speaking of creating the perfect playlist reminisent of your memories together....go create some new ones!! Grab a Bluetooth speaker and have a mini concert at home. Let him DJ, or perform his favorite songs with the fam. It’s silly, memorable, and a fun time that you'll be sure to talk about at next year's Father's Day
π 6. Budget Pick: Vinyl Record of His Favorite Album
Price: $15–30
Why It Hits: If your dad’s a vinyl guy, gifting him a classic record from his youth (or a modern one he’d love) is a surefire win. Add a handwritten note with a memory about the music for extra feels.
Another option is to introduce Pops to something new. There's such a variety of music avalible on viynl. Take Dad to a record store, or stay home and shop Amazon from the comfort of the couch together and select a new Viynl to listen to together!
Free Spin Off Idea: Select a new playlist or album to explore together. Each week, select a new song or album to both listen to throughout the week and set aside time at the end of the week to FaceTime, call, or grab coffee together and talk about what you liked and didn't like about what you listened to. Take turns selecting by artist, song, or even genre...the options are endless and it gives you a great talking point to keep in touch over!
